Hi, my name is Kari Schoonover, and I am digital scrapbook addict. Well, there are worse habits, but I am sure happy to have found others who share my passion! Coming from an IT background in my career life, I just can't get away from PC's so having a creative outlet in the computer is such a release and makes me enjoy my work even more.
My mother introduced me to the world of scrapbooking. Although I admire paper scrapping and the work that goes into them, I never had the patience to sit down work on the paper scrapbooks. I am happiest tooling with my PC, changing a layout multiple times before I call it done. I've been creating digital scrapbook layouts on my computer for about 6 years now.
I started with simple collage layouts in Powerpoint and Word, and then I moved to Microsoft Picture It. Now I mainly work with their most recent version, Microsoft Digital Image Pro v9. I have also been working with PhotoImpact XL and love the expanded capabilities I am finding. I love the ability to print multiple copies of my layouts with family and friends and sharing them electronically via web and e-mail.
My cameras that go with me everywhere are the Sony Cybershot DSC-P150 (7.2 MP) and the Sony Digital Handycam for taking video. I love all digital media, from creating my digital scrapbooks, to doing slideshows and creating/editing movies. And even digital crafts – card, gifts, decorations, you name it!
My Scrapbooking style is still to be defined, and that's what I like about scrapping… you can try so many different things. I tend to lean towards the paper-scrapped and very simple look, just because that tends to come easier for me.
The subjects of my scrapbook pages are my husband of ten years and my adorable 5 year old son. We also have one on the way, due in July. We currently live in Texas, as my husband is proudly serving our country in the US military. I have recently re-entered the workforce after having almost a year break and enjoying some SAHM time. Outside of scrapping and working, I love to play tennis, run, cook, travel, and just spend time hanging out with my family.
