SWAP
HOSTED by Amanda Behrmann
Have you signed up to join the Scrapbook-Bytes.com Swap yet? We
are having a lot of fun. Please, come join us!
What is the SBB Swap? Every other week one member is chosen at
random to have his or her photos swapped. I will send an email out
to all those who have signed up with a link to download the photos
and information. If you aren’t able to participate in that
swap, that is fine! This is just for fun! It’s a great way
to have photos other than your own to play with or to have those
tough photos that you don’t know what to do with scrapped
by someone else.
Our first swappee was Kristen (kskold). She got some really neat
ideas for her Renaissance Faire photos. To see the gallery for her
swap click here. Our current swap is for Kari. If you are interested
in participating click here for more information or email me your
name, SBB ID and your email address at swap@scrapbook-bytes.com.

November's sketch
by Maya |
Each month, the Design Team puts out a sketch and
the members at Scrapbook-Bytes create an original,
creative layout following the design of
that sketch. At the end of the month, the
Design Team votes for three winners to be featured
here! This month's sketch belongs to Design
Team Member Maya from scrapbook-graphics.com.
The competition
was steep and votes were extremely close!
All the participants did a fantastic job and we'd
like to give all of you a huge pat on the back!!!
Thank you to all who submitted a layout!
The winner
will receive a voucher to use at our new online
store worth the price of an EZine! Congratuations!

The photos (from my daughter Kate's wedding
to Marc) were taken in long grass. For
the background I used a photograph of
long grass but taken in another venue
altogether (I've started to take &
collect photos which could be useful as
backgrounds) fortunately the seem to "match"
- although I reduced the opacity &
put a golden layer underneath to give
the same type of colouring. The blades
of grass on the photos were there, I very
subtly (I hope!) painted in a few on the
background to join them in.
The 3 "little photos" are cut
from one large one.
For the buttonhole used as embellishment
I photographed my husbands one - its well
over a year since the wedding but fortunately
it has dried beautifully......
Raffia was photographed & extracted
some time back, vellum, card, brads I
made. Stitching was downloaded, some time
back, but no name/initials - but thanks
to whoever created it.
Photographs (apart from background &
buttonhole) were taken by the official
wedding photographer Dean Demosthenous
Journaling reads: On
his wedding day, Marc's lovely, wide smile
never left his face - several commented
that had there been a competition, he'd
have won "Smiling Bridegroom of the
Year"! His two bestmen (he insisted
that both were "best"men) were
his brother Graham North, & his good
friend & running mate, Roger Steel.

NEW SITE CHALLENGE!!!!
****************************************
THIRD BYTES A CHARM!
HOSTED by Margie Lundy (scrapster)
Because sometimes it’s better to receive than
to give!
Would you like to be charmed? Then send us your photos and if they’re
chosen, three of our design team members will scrap them for you!
See the official rules below. Have you wondered what someone else
would do with your photos? Ever had the perfect photo, but no idea
to go along with it? Are you curious about how many options there
are for scrapping your favorite memory? How about having gifts for
your three aunts in the photos? Whatever your reason, we hope you’ll
enjoy Third Byte’s a Charm.
This month’s charmed scrapper is Kara Crisp! Kara’s
photos are of her great-grandmother and her grandfather when he
was only three years old. In her words, “To see my Grandfather
as a playful and spirited little boy in the arms of my severe (the
only way I had known her until these photos) Great-Grandmother brought
out so many levels of emotion that it is hard to describe. My Grandfather
passed away a few years ago and so, these photos are doubly precious
to me. I'd love to see your ideas on how to honor and preserve them.”
Scrapbook-Bytes Design Team Members April, Tina, and Amy scrapped
Kari’s photos with their own individual styles.

be receiving the high-resolution print quality files as well. We’d
love to hear your feedback on this section at photos@scrapbook-bytes.com.
And if you’d like to submit your photos, we’d love to
see them. Just read the rules below and good luck!
Official Rules:
Send us 1-3 photos of the same subject at 72 dpi and under 100k.
If yours are chosen, you will be asked to send higher quality files
later. Include your name, email, and a brief description of the
photos. Email your entries by November 17th, to photos@scrapbook-bytes.com.
Sorry, but entries that do not meet these requirements cannot be
considered. Please, only one entry per person. Photos will be chosen
based on quality, content, and meaning. If your photos are not chosen,
you may resubmit them the following month if you wish or submit
different ones.
Good luck to all! And we hope you enjoy Third Byte’s a Charm!
We think all three bytes will be charms!
COMING!
The Scrapbook-Bytes Team will be releasing their first CD on November
28th! Keep an eye out for the official announcement - you heard
it here first - EXCLUSIVELY to EZine and newsletter

You Know You’ve Been Byten’
When
By and © Kristie Wickland
Your family and friends send you their photos in hopes that you
will do a layout for them! And of COURSE you do!
You have business cards printed with Scrapbook-Bytes.com on them
just to show HOW COOL it really is!
When I realize that I could do a layout from start to finish and
still go back 3 days later and make changes without using UnDO!
(AMY EDWARDS)
When One Hour Photo seems like an eternity and so far in the past
because you use digital and no longer use film.
When Adobe no longer refers to a type of dog. ?
When you realize that sleep is something that you do between layouts!
When you kids volunteer you to their teachers during the school
day to come in and take photos ‘just for fun’.
When you hear the word brush you no longer think of doing your
hair.
Thanks to all of you that submitted, please send future submissions
to Kristie@scrapbook-bytes.com
for consideration in future issues. Be sure to include "You
Knew You'd Been Byten When" in the subject line.. Thanks!

A Review of the Rustic-Heritage CD
By and © Jenna Robertson
I have three CDs worth of heritage photos I have been planning
to scrap for months. They’ve
been sitting next to my hard drive collecting dust because I haven’t
had time to create elements and backgrounds for them. I love bright
colors when scrapping on the PC and none of the items I already
have look good with my old pictures, even if I de-saturate the colors
to make them look “older”. That is why I am thrilled
to share the news: Marcee Duggar has saved the day with her new
digital scrapping CD, Rustic Heritage.
The first thing you’ll notice about the CD is how easy it
is to use. Simply double click on the icon for your CD drive and
the content is divided into four folders: Elements, Family Tree
Kit, Large Backgrounds (12x12) and Regular Backgrounds (8½x11).
The content is stored on the CD as if it were on your own PC: there
is nothing to install, customize or worry about. That makes this
kit perfect for the experienced digital scrapper or the first-timer.
Note: A more detailed review is available in the November
2003 issue of Tid-Bytes as well as exclusive never-before seen layouts
created by the Design Team!
