As always - many kits and extras are avaialble from this issue for download. You can purchase this issue in our new store here!

OTHER NOTES
The Scrapbook-Bytes Design Team will be publishing another CD, available for preview and pre-order beginning in April and shipping on May 1, 2004. This CD will contain a multitude of spring and summer kits!

We would also like to take a moment to send a special thanks out to those past design team members that have moved on to other projects or to change direction in their life. This team and site would not be what it is without its team and each team member provides a special quality to the site! Good luck to all of you!

Scrapbook-Bytes will begin collecting user input to provide better support and features for its users… a questionnaire will be posted to the site within a few weeks and various prizes and drawings will be made from all entrants… Keep an eye out for this feature.

We have revamped the site – including upgrade of the forum script, the gallery script and the handling of the site. We plan to include many more changes over the next week as well that we hope you like! Included in many of the changes this last week was a new shopping cart system. It will now send a download link directly to your email account and does not require the need to log back into your cart. One item of note is that the new cart does require the re-establishment of your account.

We have become #6 in the Scrapbooking’s top 50 since last month and are very excited that we have had such great success! Thank you to the team and our many wonderful visitors to the site!

ADVERTISING!
Scrapbook-Bytes will begin offering advertising space in various packages, including advertising in: Ezine, Newsletter, and exposure in the gallery and forums depending on the package you choose.

HOT BYTES
What’s HOT in computer scrapping!
By and © April Anderton

Trends come and go so quickly it’s hard to keep up. Here are just a few things that have been popping up on paper and computer generated layouts alike.

Ephemera
Ephemera means relating to the things of the day. This can mean things of our day or things of the past. Commonly used items in scrapbooking include old stamps, letters, illustrations, movie tickets, note cards, shopping lists etc. The variations are seemingly endless. The trend right now has been ephemera of the past. The following layouts demonstrate this technique. And as a bonus, you’ll find a set of free ephemera Photoshop brushes HERE!

Slide Mounts
Slide mounts have evolved! They now house sheer pieces of decorative acetate or are wrapped in scrumptious fabrics or coordinating papers. I recently saw a sneak preview of a BUNCH of new slide mounts that will be hitting the paper scrapping market soon! With digital scrapping we have the ability to create them any way we want!! Let the samples below inspire you to create some of your own!

Speed Scraps!
How long does it usually take you to do a layout?? Three or four hours? All day? Well, what if you only had one hour to complete your whole layout? You might be surprised at how great a layout can be in only minutes! Look at the results of the speed scrap of Friday, February 6th.

WHAT’S NOT:

You all know it by now…NOT SCRAPPING is NOT HOT!! GET BUSY!

Remember that even elements that are HOT right now can quickly become cliché if overused, so keep your own personal style shining bright while applying these and other techniques.

Of course, the real judge of what’s hot in scrapping is what’s happening on YOUR layouts, so get to it!

March's sketch
by Gina Cabrera

Each month, the Design Team puts out a sketch and the members at Scrapbook-Bytes create an original, creative layout following the design of that sketch.  At the end of the month, the Design Team votes for three winners to be featured here!  This month's sketch belongs to Design Team Member Gina Cabrera.

The competition was steep and votes were extremely close!  All the participants did a fantastic job and we'd like to give all of you a huge pat on the back!!!  Thank you to all who submitted a layout!

The winners will receive a voucher to use at our new online store worth the price of an EZine! Congratulations!

Whatever your reason, we hope you’ll enjoy Third Byte’s a Charm.

New Photos and Design Team Scraps will continue again in our April 2004 Edition.
