Both my dh's family and mine have a long military tradition. I also served in the US Army from 1973-1980, the first of our women to do so. My nieces follow not just their father in service, but me, as well. My brother lived in the same barracks, the same bay as I, and his drill sergeant in the same room as mine at Ft. McClellan, AL, but almost 18 years apart.
Journaling reads:
From 1776, possibly before, both our families have seen honorable service in every war and in every generation. These are the latest to serve and carry on that proud tradition. They are without even the shadow of a doubt the greatest of my heroes.
