Smile Hello from sunny (HOT!) CA

Hi,
My name is Terri, I have been a traditional scrapbooker for about 10 years. I have been married for 24 yrs, and have 3 boys, ages 13, 10, and almost 9 (next week). I work full time as a pharmacist, so I have trouble squeezing in scrapping time (shoot, any spare time!) most of the time.

I've seen a lot of digital layouts in magazine and online, and WOW, some of them knocked my socks off, they are so gorgeous! I'm not really a computer newbie, although I don't have much experience with digital photo editing (DH and I both have digi cameras, but he's the one who keeps stuff organized and backed up). I am also proud to say that my DH is quite a good scrapbooker in his own right! He does not have any interest in digital tho....doesn't see the point since we don't have a 12 x 12 printer, LOL. I've tried to explain about hybrid layouts (and um, there *are* different sizes of SB pages!), but he doesn't see it.

So I'm really excited to learn how to use Photoshop Elements. I've seen some of the kits for making pages and they are SOOO nice, I just gotta have some of those "papers"!

I also haven't really done message boards for several years, and now its so fancy! All the avatars, and glittery signatures...I don't know how to do any of that stuff....maybe my 13 y/o can give me some pointers (he's a computer geek just like dad).

Thanks for any tips you can give another digi newbie!

Terri in CA
p.s. apologies if this posts twice, it said I wasn't logged on, so I logged in & hit submit again....see, long time since I've posted on a forum, LOL!

...nope only posted once
Welcome to SBB! I love digi-scrapping because even if I only have a couple minutes I can pick out a couple papers or a photo and at least get something STARTED...hit save and come back to it later without worrying that the kids will "get into" it
I print all of mine in 8x8 and they turn out great! (I also do 2.5x3.5 for grandmas and grandpas and friends' wallets, 5x7s, 8x10s....papers and elements dress up almost any photo!)
lol don't give up on convincing hubby, i am sure when he sees how great YOURS turn out he will jump in!

Welcome Terry, so glad you've joined us. Got a giggle out of "maybe my 13 y/o can give me some pointers" - it is so true. But don't worry, everyone here is so helpful and knowledgeable so just ask. Plus, there are a ton of tutorials posted on this site and they add to them frequently.

Most of all, just relax and have fun.

p.s. We have a few men scrappers on this site which might entice hubby too.

Welcome! I was with your husband a few years ago....and I spent my day behind the computer, why would I want to spend my evenings and weekends behind one? The first time I was able to hit the UNDO button and not have to toss out a piece of paper I screwed up - I was hooked LOL I also love the option having my pages printed out in a bound book! Check out the tutorial section and ask lots of questions here - the ladies are wonderful at helping aorund here!
