Hello

Hi all,

I'm new to this site, and I hope that I will be able to stick around, however, I've got 3 kids (5 & 1/2 years old, 3 years old, and 2 months old) and I've got TONS of pictures in my tiny office. I actually started srapbooking with the real thing - papers, sciissors, etc and have a whole bunch of tools but believe it or not I have NOT touch it for 4 years and time IS flying by! I really need to get back to scrappin. So digital scrapping is new to me. I have a software from Creating Keepsake that allows me to quickly make one, but I also want to learn a little more than what I already know.

My question is do I need to have a software program to do scrap booking? Or can I make one from this site ? I haven't had a chance to browse through the entire site yet, just a little bit here and there. My time is fairly limited, but am very anxious to get something started - just don't know what to do first.

Laura, welcome to SBB!

Yes- you'll probably want to purchase a new software program. Adobe Photoshop Elements is a great program that many scrappers use. You can pick a copy up for less than $100 and do just about anything with it.

Be sure and post questions if you need help. We're glad to have you here!

Welcome! I'm also a mom of three, and some days I think scraping is all that keeps me sane!

You will need some kind of program, there are quite a few out there, all different price ranges. Almost all of them offer free trial periods if you want to try them out. SBB has a wonderful tutorial section - http://scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-scrip...sh/index.shtml
and if you scroll down a bit you'll see forums set up by program if you have specific questions - there always seems to be someone around who can answer for you.

Don't forget to check out the freebie section too -http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/chat/local_links.php?catid=5 to get you started on your collection and help you try out those programs. Don't let the software overwhelm you, once you get the hang of it I bet you'll love it!

What do you prefer to use PSE or Digital Imaging ? Which is easy to understand best if your time is so limited, and want to quickly learn everything.

Also, what is the purpose of the download? to use it for your pictures and print it? If not, then what?

Thanks in advance!

Pse is easy to use...but so would DIP...especially with all the great info here on the site...
there are also newbie chats that are very helpful for answering your questions...
The download for the papers? that is so you can layer them with your photos...
If you are talking download for the software...you can try them outwith the free trial download before you purchase...you download and install the software...and then try to do a layout in the program...

Digital Image is the easist to learn and still powerful enough to create any layout you like.
PSE is a powerful program but not as intuitive and if you are not looking at designing then DIP is generally considered the most convenient option - and there are a ton of tutorials.
Take a look at our article here: http://scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-scrip...icle_146.shtml that compares software and talks about the process of making a page. Each software also has a tutorial that walks you through creating your first page. As the mother of 4 - 10, 3, 2 and 7 months I know what those time pressures are like
