Welcome to SBB!
when I first started I wish I knew:
-to hold the shift key while resizing photos- so they stay proportional
-what size I wanted to scrap in so that I wouldn't have to redo a bunch of LO's
(be sure to think about what album you want to use, what printer you want to use- to determine what size you want to scrap)
-to zoom in to view>print size to make sure my drop shadows weren't too big

check out the tutorials above- in that quick site links box- ther are a bunch of photoshop ones there- even if they are written for PS7 or PSCS- they can still be used for PSCS2
if you get stuck- be sure to post a question in the photoshop forum

oh and when you go to a crop- be sure to announce that you are new to digiscrapping and everyone will jump in to help

Welcome! So glad you found us.

One thing I wish I had known before was to organize downloaded kits, etc. from the start. I went crazy and downloaded everything free I could find. Well, it wasn't long before I had a mess. It took hours to straighten everything out. So, have an organization plan for storage of your kits (whether free or purchased) and use it. Your scrapping life will be much easier. Also, be choosy. Only downloaded what you really love and feel you will use.

Also, Lauie's tip about the print view is great. I learned the hard way that just because it looks great at 25%, doesn't mean it will look good once printed. I still have some LO's I need to redo because of not first checking the print view.

Last (most will disagree with this) is I wish I had known not to add tons of plug-ins, filters, etc. to my PS program. Photoshop is a memory hog on it's own and when you add in a bunch of other things, it just bogs down even more. I few months back I uninstalled and put back just the basic program (I use PSCS2). I never have a problem with the way it runs now. I have only made a couple of actions and that's it. I have learned that anything you want to do, you can do without all the added plug-ins, etc. I just have to take that liittle extra time to learn how to do it within PS and without any outside added features.

Have fun and don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.
