Separating grouped elements

I know, it works - but I don´t know, how. Please - how can I separate grouped elements like alphabets with PI 8 or 10?

Petra, I'll send you a PM because I can explain it better in German -
if anyone else needs to know it, please let me know, than I'll try it in English of cause.

Well I don't speak German either

Separating is tres easy [I guess I speak some French ] Make sure the letters are selected. Using the selection marquee, choose the option select on object and enclose the letter you want with the light blue box selection. The choose the selection -> convert to object menu option, and there is your letter!

Cheryl explains it thusly:
