Upgrading to PI 11?

I am wondering if I should upgrade to 11. But I have a question...ok, maybe two.

I have a very old version of Photo Impact....Pro 8.5 I am having problems with trying to open documents or pictures within it to work on and the whole program shutting down on me. I have gone to the site to see if there are any patches or updates for it, but it says my program is too old and they dont' offer any patches for it anymore and that I should upgrade. So...on this link it says it is $49 to upgrade http://www.ulead.com/store/pi/runme.htm

Is that for any one, with any older version of PI? Or will it be more money for me to upgrade because my version is so old?

TIA!

I would think you'd be able to upgrade with the older version, I've skipped versions before when I've ordered upgrades and it's always worked.

Actually 8.5 isn't really that old, I just upgraded several months ago to 10 after using 8 for quite some time. I'm happy with 10 so I probably won't upgrade for a while, so unfortunately I can't tell you anything about what 11 offers that the earlier versions don't.

LOL my DH made a comment when I said about 8.5 being "Old" I guess I used the term Old because the website said they don't offer patches for it anymore since it is "older" due to them already being up too 11! I may have to upgrade. We use it a lot for DH's business and he has even learned quite a bit on it. Trying to switch him to somethign else would confuse him too much. But I can't use it right now how it is with it shutting down on us all the time......so I guess maybe we will be upgrading.

Does anyone know what the big difference is between 11 and 10?

My DH saw PI 10 today for $65.99 and said he almost bought it for me but then he said he thought he remembered me saying they are up to 11. But, if 11 is $49.99 to upgrade and download, I wonder if it would be worth it for us to just buy the box/cd version of 10 for $65. (I have dial up and I am SURE downloading 11 would probably take forever!!!)

guess I should go check and see how much PI 11 in the box is selling for.

I'm not sure what the differences between the two programs are (I'm using 10 and it seems to do everything I want to do), but you may want to go ahead and get the newest version so that you have better tech support, sometimes it's harder to get support on the older versions. PI isn't terribly expensive (always under $100), so it's probably not a lot more to get the boxed upgrade (though I have a cable connection I always get it mailed to me because I like having the factory cd and the user's guide book to leaf through!) than the downloaded upgrade.

I un installed my PI and then re installed it and it worked fine. Finished a whle layout with out it crashing!! (LOL That is the first time in a while I've been able to say that!) But I think I may go ahead and buy PI 11 anyway. I have had problems with it doing the same in the past. I may as well go ahead and by the newest one that way I can download any patches and Hopefully, I won' t have the problems anymore.

Hi,

I have PI 10 and only paid $19.99 for it at Comp USA. It was about 9 months ago but something to check on. It was on sale for $69 (orig $99) then had two rebates on it. Oh, and it was the full version, not an upgrade. I had version 7 before and was worried about just upgrading.
