Problem with my PI

....this is getting very frustrating to me....I can not finish a layout using Photo Impact because it usually shuts down on me midway thru. Some times I get an error that says something like Edit has caused an error. Other times, it just closes on it's own. Sometimes when I go to open a picture or an element from off my computer it does it. Then other times it is at odd times like resizing etc.......

Anyone have any ideas? I un installed it and installed it again, but still doing the same thing. It is so irritating!!!!!

Could be an issue with your computer and not the software... however, are you sure you have all the updates for this softwaer installed? If not, you should visit the manufactures website and see if there are updates available.. the issue might be a bug and fixed.

If you are up to date and this still occurs... how much memory do you have on your system? Are other programs running as well? What are your hardware specs?

Let us know and we'll try to help...

Well, coming from a fellow PI user - I have had this problem before - very annoying - I know how frustrating it can be. Do you have all the most recent patches - there was one available for this problem - downloadable from the website. Download and then re-install everything all over again. You know, my version is just plain possessed - every few months I have to re-install everything and it runs A-OK for another 4 months!! Strange, I know - but it gets the kinks out!!

HTH

That speaks to poor programming then... you might think about moving to a more stable software package.. You should not have to reinstall software every few months!

Why though? Just curious if you are having troubles with the software why would you continue to use it? Unless this is isoalted and only occurs twice a year...

Are you using PhotoImpact 10?

I've had this happen before, not only with PhotoImpact, but with Photoshop 7 as well, same exact message, something about iedit causing an error. This leads me to believe that it may be something with my computer since it does the same thing with both programs.

I find that it usually happens when I'm trying to do too many things at once, (several windows open at a time) and a good reboot brings everything back up and running. It doesn't happen often enough to bother me much though, I make sure to save a lot and try not to stress my computer out too much with too many programs open at once. Is your computer an older model with less memory? Mine is almost 5 years old and needs some upgrading (or just replacing, LOL!).

As far as moving to another software program, since I've had the same problem with Photoshop as well I'm not sure that would work for me. And some of us prefer PhotoImpact over the others...like me. I'm comfortable with it's desktop, it's very powerful as far as creating realistic elements, it's a very easy program to learn, and it doesn't cost me a fortune to upgrade!

I am going to check the website out for patches though, thanks for the suggestion Pesto. I'm careful to save often so I don't lose much when it does happen to close up while I'm working on something, but it can get annoying.

Yeah.. you might want to check your hardware then. If it is happening with other software, then its not the program. Perhaps you need some more memory or do a hard drive defrag (you may have a bad block which needs to be isolated so it is not used). Good Lukc!
