Yes, definately!

Everyone has their own preferences, but I've found PhotoImpact to be very user friendly especially for beginners. I've used PhotoImpact for about 6 years, and even though I've used a few of the other programs as well, I always go back to PI for it's ease of use.

I'm a beginner to and I have photo impact and adobe photoshop. Photoimpact is definately more user friendly for a lot of the basics. I also find myself going back to this program after I have started a project in adobe. I hope this helps!

PhotoImpact is an awesome program! Although I also use Photoshop CS, PI is my program of choice for designing elements. Much easier. It's also very easy to put layouts together in because you can open a window where your files are and then just drag them into PI to use. Drag a background in then drag and drop all your elements onto the background and they are automatically put on their own layer. EASY!

I learned how to use PI through the PIRC Beginners Workshop which is free and totally self paced. You will learn your way around PI by doing hands on tuts and it's tons of fun. I highly recmommed it for newbies just getting their feet wet. Even those who have been using PI for a while can benefit from it greatly. There's so much that you can do in PI.

Also be sure and check out PIRC (PhotImpact Resource Center) They are SOOO helpful in the forums there and you can get all kinds of free objects, presets, textures, more tuts and they even have a scrapbooking section on the board

You might also want to check out this tut that I posted there on how to easily create fuzzy looking fibers in PI to use in your layouts.

if you are comfotable with it then by all means keep using it. I woudl recommend that you do stick with one program for awhile.. it makes things much easier in the long run. Given that, I jumped straight into photoshop.. this way I reallly don't have to "move up" to another program since I'm scrappin with the top! Good luck!
