Try Something New May 5-11

I'm going to extend the NSD Try Something New for this week.
1. First of all, please download a copy of the April 2005 Tid-bytes:
http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/chat/...s.php?catid=33

2. Read through pages 53-56. Graphic Design Principles: Choosing Your Color Scheme By and © Laurie Slawta
3. Choose a photo. Decide on a color scheme. Challenge yourself!
4. Create a double layout. For example if you usually scrap 8x8 pages, make your layout 8x16. Section off the usual 8x8 block for the layout, and copy your photo on the other side. Create a color palette similar to the one in the tutorial and add it beside the photo.
5. Now show us your stuff! If you are worried about finding a kit or papers, etc in your chosen colors, do not despair. You can easily adjust the colors of any papers & elements.
6. Post your assignment to our TSN gallery: http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/galle....php?cat=12489
7. Come back and link us up here!
8. I'll be sending out a Quick page for you posting bonus.
9. Above all, have fun!!!

Oh- good. There's still time to give this a try. Knew I would never be able to tackle in time for the chat challenge deadline. Was kind of interesting reading.

If we did it for the NSD chat, can we link to that one?

Raylene - your timing on this challenge is perfect. Digital Scrapbooking's June/July issue has an article on a new, FREE, color tool called Kuler from Adobe (kuler.adobe.com). After you register (if you don't already have an Adobe account) you can upload your picture, select a base color and then start applying various color rules - monochromatic, complimentary, bright, warm, etc. After you get a palette you like you name it, save it, then load it into PS. I named my color swatch and my LO Treasure Cay.

p.s. you can even search on and use palettes created by other people.
