Try Something New March Week 2

“Try Something New” week 2 Mar 10-16/08
__________________________________________________ ________________________________
Welcome to my forum challenge. I hope you will join me this week to learn something new!

This week I want focus on Photographs again. This time, a very useful technique: “Correcting Red Eye”

Here are the tutorials for your “homework”:

Photoshop http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/a-tut...icle_663.shtml

Photoshop Elements: http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/a-tut...icle_442.shtml

PSP: http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/a-tut...icle_594.shtml

DIP: Red Eye tut for DIP By Shelleyrae Cusbert

To Fix Red Eye choose Touch Up> Fix Red Eye from either the toolbar menu or the common tasks menu. Zoom in on the eyes using either the Zoom tool in the top right corner OR by using the scroll on your mouse. Move the cursor to the eye ensure it centers over the pupil and then choose Fix Selected red eyes. Repeat for the other eyes. Click Done when complete.
Those instructions should help - its really simple in DIP.

Here are the guidelines:
1. View & practice the tutorial listed above for your program.
2. Choose a good example for “before” & “after.”
3. Use your two photos in a simple layout.
4. Post here: http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/galle....php?cat=12489
5. Come back and link us up, so we can leave you some love for your efforts!! Don’t forget to tell us what program you are using.
6. I will PM you “Pushing Up Daisies” Quick Page for playing along.
7. Have fun!

This looks like a great tutorial, but it's not working for me. I'm using the Photoshop tutorial with CS2 on Windows. I get as far as using the brush tool to click on the eyes ..... and nothing happens. Nada. Zip. The history palette shows that I've actually clicked, but there is no change to the photo at all. I've double checked that the colors are the default white/black, I have deselected the canvas before clicking, I've tried alt-click or ctrl-click, even shift-click.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I have had this happen too. Just try starting over. Or leave it and come back. I don't know why this happens (Or doesn't happen with PSCS)! I have done a whole pile of photos at once and the odd one just doesn't want to work. Just try again. Sometimes my keyboard short cuts don't work either!! Mysteries of life!!!

Thanks, that's probably all it is. I have that problem with my spot healing brush sometimes too and have to shut down and restart to get it working again. Unfortunately my computer is down for the count right now, so I won't be able to try again for a while.
