Question I hope this is allowed...

I'm still trying to figure out the rules and lingo around here so forgive me if this is inappropriate and feel free to delete/move/whatever it but I figured I'd give it a shot....

My first big project is to make a small (probably 8x8) scrapbook for my husband. We've had a rough spot here and I want to use the lyrics from a song as the central theme of the album, putting a segment from the song on each page (in order, so it "sings" the song). I'm wondering if anyone can help with ideas as to the best places to find appropriate paper/word art/etc since there's such an overwhelming amount of stuff available that I don't really know where to start looking...

Here are the lyrics:

A strangled smile fell from your face
It kills me that I hurt you this way
The worst part is that I didn't even know
Now there's a million reasons for you to go
But if you can find a reason to stay

I'll do whatever it takes
To turn this around
I know what's at stake
I know that I've let you down
And if you give me a chance
Believe that I can change
I'll keep us together whatever it takes

She said "If we're gonna make this work
You gotta let me inside even though it hurts
Don't hide the broken parts that I need to see"
She said "Like it or not it's the way it's gotta be
You gotta love yourself if you can ever love me"

I'll do whatever it takes
To turn this around
I know what's at stake
I know that I've let you down
And if you give me a chance
And give me a break
I'll keep us together, I know you deserve much better

But remember the time I told you the way that I felt
That I'd be lost without you and never find myself
Let's hold onto each other above everything else
Start over, start over

I'll do whatever it takes
To turn this around
I know what's at stake
I know I've let you down
And if you give me a chance
and believe that I can change
I'll keep us together whatever it takes

Thanks in advance for any advice/help/pointers!

K.

Since the song builds perhaps starting from neutral colors to strong colors might work? To help reflect the mood.
You mind find it easy to use a large single collection or kit to work with so you keep the design similar for the whole album and can concentrate on the meaning behind each page.
Jess has given you some great places to start looking for products - and shh its a secret but on the 25th there will be a HUGE kit available that might suit your needs perfectly due to the theme.

Oh, this is a great idea. I don't know if you will have very much luck finding word art to match the lyrics, but you could type them into the pages yourself. As far as papers and elements go, I agree with the others (of course), SBB is a great resource not only for store bargains and goodies, but freebies in the downloads. And if you are a member at SBB, there are even more choices. LOL, SR, I know just the HUGE kit you are talking about, and you are right it would be perfect for Kristin's album.

If you really want to make a coordinating 8x8 album, there are a lot of quick page albums available also, like Shelleyrae said.

I would go with one huge kit, or like a varity of the valentine day kits available and grab a couple of those and recolor so all looks the same color value.

If the pros say the perfect kit for this is coming out on the 25th, I'm definitely marking my calendar! I don't know if I can wait that long but I'll have to find something else to occupy my time I suppose! Patience is definitely not one of my virtues!

Thanks for all the pointers, you guys have been amazing! You wouldn't believe how many times I've had to go back to the thread on how everyone organizes their stuff-- I've only downloaded 2-3 small kits so far and I'm already having a hard time with figuring out how to organize, tag, store, and find everything!

Well I am glad that you are trying to jump in... As for the tagging ect... I dont have a program that dose that... but then I am not exactly what you would call a pouter person... I know funny hu... any who... My files are mostly by colors (like orange-red-yellow-fall ) or (Red-pink-love ) ect. and if there is a season that always seems to be in that color scheme then i will add that to the title of the folder name... And then ( and mind you this is just a new thought and I am not yet done ) I am printing index sheets of everything i have. I copy the file names into a word document and print off all of the names ... print and index of the stuff in the file... and then tape the file names to the edge of the first sheet for that kit... I like just being able to flip through and see what I need... and i dont forget where I already looked... This way I can keep the kits all together but still find that silly little staple. Ok if i totally just confused you more I am soooooooooo sorry... but if you have more questions please let me know.
