Creating outline of a group of people

Hi folks -

You know how a magazine will show a photo with a group of people, and then a smaller box with just the outlines of the people, numbered, and a corresponding list of the numbers and names? For identification purposes?

I know that a couple of years ago I had a software program that had an option for doing this feature very easily - but I don't remember which program.... I think it was DIP. Nor do I remember what the feature option was called.

I have lots of programs available to use - does anyone know if any application has it as an automatic option? Or how to do it?

I really don't think I used the mouse to trace around each figure - that would have been too tedious for my temperament....

Thanks in advance -

You can just use a pen tool (I'm thinking photoshop ish here) and roughly outline each of the people and then stroke that path... If you're not going to actually overlay the outline on top of the photo then it could be quite rough...

yes.. I figured I could trace it manually. I just wonder if there was an option in a program for doing it automatically, since that's my memory of what I did last time.

Thanks

I did this recently with the class picture of my sons class. But I just made a simple printout of the photo and then traced the lines with tracing paper, added numbers and scanned that. It was the only and definetely the quickest way I could think of.
