that would be appropriate for a page for my children’s former nanny.
Something that evokes a sense of gratitude and appreciation for all she did and all she meant, but also recognizes how sad it is that she has moved on

for hands that giveso much,
for your kind and thoughtful spirit,
and your gentle, caring touch.

I thanked the Lord for you today,
for your angel heart of gold,
for your words of guidance and support,
for arms so quick to hold.

I thanked the Lord for you today,
in every thought and prayer,
and asked the Lord to bless you,
and to keep you in His care.


When I Can’t Be There

When I can’t be there, it’s you who wipes away her tears.
It’s you that she looks for to help calm her fears.
When I can’t be there, it’s you that sings to her a song.
It’s you that let’s her know that mommy won’t be gone for very long.
When I can’t be there, it’s you that plays with her a game.
It’s you who teaches her numbers, letters and how to say her name.
When I can’t be there, it’s you that she cuddles to tight.
It’s you that pats her back and lovingly says to her “night night”.
When I can’t be there, it’s you that sometimes has to be tough.
It’s you that has to redirect her when she sometimes plays a little rough.


I’d give anything to be there…to do the things you can.
To be the one to hold her, to be her biggest fan.
My job includes an office, power suits and meetings.
Yours includes little ones and their sweet and special greetings.
At my job no one runs to hug me when I walk through the door.
At your job, just this morning, I think I counted four!
I have a business card in my purse and a cell phone in my hand.
You have paint on your shirt and in your shoes you have sand.
People think what I do is important, that my job must be very neat.
What they don’t understand is without you, my job would not be complete.
You make it all possible…it’s you that I trust and ask to care
For my sweet and precious child when I can not be there.

You are the best of the best…you do everything with a smile.
You can change a hundred dirty diapers or chase them all for miles.
I have never heard you complain about the countless number of tears
Or the lack of respect you have received throughout the past few years.
You have my respect, my admiration, and most of all, my love.
You are a special angel sent to Earth from Heaven up above.
I try to always say thank you and to let you know that I care
About all of the things that you do, when I can not be there.
