Is it appropriate to edit elements?

Is it appropriate for me to gently edit elements that I have download from the site and then use those elements in a LO?
For example, I downloaded a "plopper" from the elements section. It had a very nice quote on it, but I wanted to use that space for some journaling instead. So I erased the quote and added my own journaling. Is that o.k? Can, should I feel free to post the LO?

I don't make elements (yet, heheh...) but seems to me like it would be okay, I think the main problem would be if you were taking them, modifying them, and trying to tell people you made them - especially if you were selling them. But changing the text of a premade layout seems almost expected to me.

But this is just what *I* think, and I'm new here, so maybe someone who actually makes elements would be the opinion you're looking for

I think that change is fine as long as you still credit the original creator and say something like "with quote removed". I often recolor papers and elements and also use existing papers as overlays on others. I just credit the creator and say that I recolored or otherwise modified the element.

Yup, what Stacy said. Just be sure to give proper credit to the creator. For example, 'pagebyte by ______ with quote removed, dled from SBB' would be fine.

i recolour and resize elements all the time because they have to match the reset of the layout or they're useless... i also took a little bit of ribbon and created a full-sized border from it, and I gave the creator credit. I think I said 'border made from X by Y'...
