Are you creating brushes and trying to get them in color as you create them? No you can't do that. What you do is create the brush and then apply the color as you are applying the brush. Does that make sense? I'd go more into how to do that, if I knew what program you were using!

Brushes are all and only greyscale. you cannot create a colored brush.

Those two color swatches at the bottom of your vertical Tools bar are your foreground and background colors (click the little double sided arrow to switch their positions, making foreground switch to background and vice versa). The brush will use whatever color is in the foreground box. So, if you want to match a color in a photo, click on the top (left) colored box, which will bring up your color selector. You can either click around in there and move the slider to different colors, or click the eyedropper tool on the color in the photo (You'll have to have the photo open to do this).

Once you have your color selected, click on the brushes tool in the Tools bar and start brushing!

HTH!
