Help need poem/prayer for Godparents

I am working on a layout for my Godparents. Have a picture from Baptism in '67 and a more recent picture. My Godmother is dying from Cancer and I want to thank them for all they have done for me and let them know how much I love them.

I checked the links mentioned (Quote Garden, ThinkExist, Allpoetry.com) but there didn't find anything, or even something I could tweak...

Any other suggestions?

Judi

Judy,
I don't know what religion this baptism took place in, but how about a phrase from the liturgy or scripture used in the ceremony? Usually there are some that are traditionally used in each denomination.

Found this at www.twopeasinabucket.com

We searched for someone special
both a woman and a man,
to be the Godparents of our child
to serve as God's right hand
for baptism is the first step,
on a journey back to him,
and we chose you to guide our child
as this pilgrimage beins.
To you has been entrusted,
God's own loving care,
and we have peace of mind and heart,
knowing you are there.
We are sure that up in heaven
the Lord looked down and smiled,
when He saw that you were chosen
as Godmother of our child.

You could jsut substitute Godparents for Godmother

I don't have one for Godparents specifically, but when I saw that your Godmother is dying from cancer, I thought of this one immediately. Not what you asked for, but thought you may be able to use it in a different type of layout maybe?

Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot destroy peace.
It cannot kill friendships.
It cannot suppress memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot steal eternal life.
It cannot conquer the Spirit.

Thank you!!

I used the poem that Anna found, changed it slightly. Just uploaded the LO to my gallery and I welcome any comments as I am still learning...
