Christmas does not always equal Winter!

Ok peoples, please excuse me because I am feeling the need to vent!

I am one of those few people in the world who has always associated Christmas with Summer. I *know* many of us here are Southern Hemisphere Scrapbookers. Where are *our* Christmas elements? I am close to useless when it comes to making my own elements, so I went searching on my favourite websites and through the yahoo newsgroup for some appropriate elements that combine Summer fun and Christmas. Needless to say, I did not turn up too much! To be fair, I now live in the Northern Hemisphere, but I enjoy going back to Australia for Christmas [or Chanukah for my family]. I have so many December holiday photos where it is very clear snow is just not part of the theme!

Has anyone else met with this frustration? Have my Southern Hemisphere sisters made their own elements to get around this?

Perhaps Shelleyrae or others could help you out... unfortunately all I can think of right now is snow and when the heck will summer be here! It's only 11 with -2 wind chill right now

Amy, it snowed here in Vancouver yesterday which virtually shut down the city! Today it is freezing rain and slush.

*sigh* and to think only last week in Melbourne, Australia it was about [converting to American...] 100F. I have quite a nice tan.

Remind me again why I came back?

ROFL. I'm in Seattle, WA and we got SLAMMED with the snow and ice too. Go figure. But I finally got some snow pics to use with all the snow elements.

Good point about Christmas/Snow association. But what about the red/green/white elements?

I think the red/green/white elements are universally seen as appropriate for Christmas anywhere.

For example, your marvellous kit with the tags, Suzanne, made a very appropriate layout that represented Christmas, although not necessarily in any particular part of the world. [Although I don't remember too much holly growing in the backyard by the pool. ] I used that layout to do a "day in the life" kind of layout where I used each tag for a photo and wrote the time of the photo on the tag. I then put them in chronological order.

I guess, to me, Christmas is about barbeques and swimming in the pool with all the relatives... I am certain any bright colour schemes go with that!

I understand your frustration - here in South Africa we also have a very hot Christmas - being costal we have high humidity thrown in for good measure - I suppose the Northerners far outweigh us Southerners! I have done a few "hot" Christmas layouts

Take care, Meryl

I love in Las Vegas, we don't have White Christmases either (unless you count the 30th when we had abt 1 mm for a few hours). I hope you'll share any info or links you find!

I'm from England which equates to rain, rain and more rain all year around! Currently here in Japan we're undergoing bizzard after blizzard and the coastal wind just makes it seem colder. I don't do a lot of elements but I do have a suggestion for you. Perhaps you could take some dingbats of whatever you consider Christmas. A santa face, Christmas tree? and bevel it using PS, Eye Candy or similar program. I did this in the following layout! Makes for an easy element

Failing that if you ahve a scanner you could scan Christmas wrapping paper, magazines etc.. which pictures that remind you of Christmas. You may consider using ribbons in the elements section also.

Just a thought!

Anna
