Unhappy save LO with brushes

Hello,

I'm a new scrapper addict and I'm french. I hope you'll understand my english and thank you for excusing my mistakes...!!!!!!

I'm just finishing a LO with PSE and want to put some brushes. It's the first time I do this.

I follow the tutorial and add the brush shape to the layer. I try to save my work, but I don't manage to desactivate the brush tool. I can't do anything else (select another part of the layer for example).
I nevertheless saved the LO but the brushes have disappeared ;-((

It's VERY annoying !

thank you for your help !

Candice

Hi Candice!

Your English is much better than my very rusty French! It sounds like your LO is saved but you did not manage to save your brushes in a way that you can easily use again. If that's true you'll have to create the brushes again and save them as a seperate file in PSE.

Here's how to save a new brush set in PSE3.
1- Click Edit> Preset Manager and make sure that your Preset Type is set to Brushes.
2- Select the brushes that you want to save as a set. SHIFT+click starts a list just like in file explorer.
3- Click the Save Set button.
4- Name your brush set file and pick a directory to save it in. If you save it in the default brush directory, PSE will automatically load your brush set each time it starts up.

Please let me know if that works for you or if you have more questions. Don't be afraid to tell me I'm answering the wrong question. I've done that for native English speakers.

HTH!

Hi Stacy !
thank you for your kindness ! I don't have the occasion to speak or write english daily, so it becomes more and more difficult for me to do it ! My husband who is a french canadian is bilingual and I think that I'm going to need his help !!
I'm using a french version of PSE, which is not easy !

Concerning my problem :
The brushes I downloaded yesterday have been saved in the preset manager. So I can select them.
I wanted to put the shapes on the edge, when the LO was practically finished.

I selected the brush tool, choosed the brush, selected the mask mode (I'm not sure it's its name in the english version) and the opacity. I click on each corner of the layer to apply the shape.
But the brush tool keeps on being active. If I click anywhere, the brush shape is already there.
I can't change another part of the LO. I can't save my work with the brushes.

I read in a tutorial that it was better to put the brushes at the beginning of the work. But at this moment, I don't know if I want to use them or where....

I also tried to create an new layer in the layer palette, but it didn't work...

Thanks a lot for your help!
I'm very pleased to have found this website. I'm actually pregnant (our baby girl is waiting for March, 4th) and I spend all my time to explore this site ! I'm crazy about it!

Whatever color is in the foreground of your little color swatch things in the tool bar will be the color of your brush. Click on the foreground box to change the color..
