Question How to use Actions, for dummies :)

OK- does anyone either have a tutorial that would explain step by step how to use actions in PS for dummies (term for me, not insulting anyone, lol) or would anyone be willing to walk me thru it? I have so many, but I just do not get it. Please? Pretty please?

Hi sindea,

so you have the action already stored? Then, all you have to do is go to the actions palette, chose the action, click on the little arrow pointing down to the left of the name, click on the first line of the stuff that shows now under the action name and hit the play button. That's it then, the action starts doing its work.

HTH, if not, let us know what the problem is.

Sindea, I have just spent the morning going through all my actions. Some of them are just incredible! Do you have a specific question? I am a dummy which means I can only answer very easy questions.

Yep an action is jsut a saved series of steps used to create a particular effect. A great timesaver if you repeat the same effects to your los over and over, the only drawback is that they are saved as they are saved. Any tweaking has to be done outside of the action. Make sense?

OK- as I said, for dummies version. So I open a photo, then I click on an action I have loaded- and click the play button. So do I just click on each individual play button within that set of actions until I am done with all that are listed? I know it should be so easy,lol....

Actions are very useful! Just like anything else in PS just need to play with it a bit. They were much easier than I thought and I never did find a good tut, but on PS help section they had some info.
not sure if that will help you at all but helped me a bit.

OK- so I MAY have success! Here is what I did- just trying it out...
Actions - before and after

OK- so here is an added question. If you do NOT want to certain part of the photo to have the action applied, what is the best way to do this?

thanks all of you for being so helpful!
