POST YOUR BUSINESS-RELATED QUESTIONS HERE!

We see a need... we fulfill a need! More and more of you are starting the element/kit creation process or, at the least, are curious about the process, so post those questions here and get answers from your always-helpful and always-knowledgeable fellow SBB members! Any type of business related to scrapping is welcome here whether you are creating kits, scrapping layouts for others, some combination of the two, or something else!

This is NOT a place for advertising your site or services, so please do not post reviews of your own work, previews of your product, etc. merely for the purpose of drawing traffic to your site. Continue to share your free elements and ideas in the Elements forum. The intention of creating this forum is to provide an arena for those scrappers with their own companies to discuss trends, share advice, or get to know those others in 'the biz.'

Getting Started

I am well on my way to starting my Digital Scrapbooking Business. I have done a small amount of research, (mostly on this site), and have a few ideas, but still do not feel totally comfortable.
I already have a whole album that I am to do (starting tomorrow) for Christmas, (for a co-worker). We have not discussed pricing, lo options, picture options or anything. She has just seen some of my work (can be found in my gallery) and wants to pay me to do an album of her kids for her parents. HELP!!!! First I should mention I'm Canadian, and therefore my prices etc. may be different. I was thinking of charging her (my first actual customer) $10 a page. but should it be different depending on the page, as some I can spend hours on and other whip together? It looks as though I will be printing the page adn putting it in an album (which I buy at Michael's for roughly $20+/-. How much should I charge? I have to consider hte ink, paper, background paper (I fill my 12x12's with black paper then put an 8x8 photo in the middle.) Does anyone have a consultation page which they follow covering all angles? Any help is greatly appreciated. Should I grab quotes etc. or have her select the journalling???? AHHH..lol

Striving to Share

I have recently created two kits that I would like to share with the Scrapbook-Bytes community. Can you please assist me on what steps to take?

New Sites

It seems that there are more and more new sites popping up like jumbocaveman.com that are from people that just started their own businesses. I'm sure that many of them will take your kits and allow you to distribute through them to allow you to see how your kits will do before you decided if you want to go full fledged.

I'm interested in knowing what the legalities are using digital scrapping kits to do paid work for other people. I did a lot of digital scrapping for christmas gifts (enhancing our annual family photo), and they have been greatly admired. I'd love to do it for other people and get paid, but don't want to infringe on any copyright issues. Any thoughts? Dawn

Great question Dawn! Each designer has a TOU included with their kit (or they should!) and SBB store also has a list of each designer's terms (it is located right below where it says 'New Products' on the left side of the page) http://scrapbookbytes.com/store/home.php

Some require a fee, some do not. Your best bet is to contact the designer for more information.

Partnership with a publisher for my Reading's candies needed !!!

Hello!

I'm a new writer, publisher of my own series of books written in french. Today I'm still searching really a credible partner for my books to be released publicly. It's already on display in a local bookstore down here (W.I, Martinique, Caribbean) but it needs to be released more properly with my consent of course only.
My name is Catherine

I would love to know the process a designer takes when creating a kit, as I have been designing stuff for a long time and am thinking about doing kits. Then once I have a kit, how to I go about offering it, either for sale, or ????
