Question Packaging & Saving Kits

Hello Scrappers! I have a business-related question... When creating a kit, how does one package the kit so it's on one file for customers to download the zip file? Is each background and element in the kit a separate file in the zip download? Are kit files JPG images or are they PNG? Or backgrounds separate jpeg files and elements png files on one file? Are the backgrounds already 12 x 12, or can they be increased? I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me how this "trick" is done. Thank you!!!

Well.. you could just download a free kit in the downloads section and take a look.. but just in case this isn't spam.. you would just create seperate folders for each category on your HD and then create a zip file preserving the folders.... no "trick" needed - just zip er up!

This definately isn't spam... I have been trying to get a site going on my own without knowing much about web design, and have been creating... and it takes ALOT of time... I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but I'm going to keep trying... So, I guess I'll just try and zip several files into one folder? I'll zip the jpeg backgrounds and the png elements and call that folder the kit name? Am I understanding it right?

Ok then..
Create a folder on your PC called Kit1.
Create a subfolder on your PC called Backgrounds
Create a subfolder on your PC called Elements
Etc
Add all you items (jpgs and pngs) to the appropriate folders/subs

Get yourself a copy of winzip (free demo) and install
Go the top folder and right click it.. go to winzip - > create zip

if your settings are correct.. it will create a zip and preserve your folders so when the user unzips, it will break it out nicely.

Good luck with your quest.. if you need specific web help - pm me and I'll help you out.

To answer your other questions: backgrounds should be jpg's and all other elements should be png's. Don't forget to include a TOU text file.

I also agree to d/l some freebies...study how they are all put together...you also need to watch the sizes of each of your elements, try to keep them true to real-life sizes.....and the standard for all papers/backgrounds is 12x12

Well.. I actually like the elements that are blown up a bit.. since you can free transform to any size you might need.. makes viewing them in my cataloging program easier!

Packaging & Saving Kits

Thank you for answering my questions... I've noticed the TOU, but didn't think of including it as a separate file with each kit/download. What program is used to create the text document file?
I was going to attach backgrounds separate, but I like the idea of a folder for all backgrounds and another folder for all the elements (I did download one kit, but they just had one backgrond).
My last question is when I put all my backgrounds and elements together for a kit to display the picture with everything on the website, how should I save it for viewing, as far as size and type of file (jpeg or gif).
If I know the answers to these question, it sure will help me out and I can keep creating and not worry about saving them wrong.
