Question Getting Started???

Hiya Everyone!

My hubby and I have decided that I should start making some actual money from all the things I make. Well, really he decided and I nodded and ignored him for a few days lol. But, now I really agree with him because: I have 5 kits, which have been downloaded a total of 603 times (as of this morning) in just under two weeks.

Here's my problem. I have no idea where to start. I don't know where to find a suitable (and simple) webpage host. I'm starting from scratch on that. I do have a website, but it's only an MSN Group with some Geocities pages. So I only have so-so skills with html.
I also have no idea how to begin selling and collecting money (paypal).

I'd just like any help at all at this point. I know some of you have your own shops and I would love any advice I could get!! I've been asking around and so far, noone is willing to share, or they just don't know enough to help me.

So, please please help me!! Thanks a bunch!

Hugz, Dawn

First of all, congratulations on the success you've had with people wanting your kits. But in all reality it would be very difficult to provide you with all the information you are going to need to know to start selling them. And in addition to information on how to do a website, you're also going to need some money to purchase a domain name and pay for hosting, as well as lots of time invested to build a site and set everything up with PayPal. The other option would be to hire someone to build the site for you.

If you're interested in selling your kits, have you considered the option of selling through another site on consignment? I don't believe SBB has any available spots right now, but you could contact them and get on a waiting list maybe. I can't provide you with information on other shops as it would be a violation of the TOU, but if you google I'm sure you will come up with several.

I'm sure your DH admires your work, but if the suggestion on making money started because you spend a lot of time on the computer making kits, your computer time is going to double. In addition to the designing time, you'll now have all the time involved with keeping the site running, answering customer service emails, time spent promoting the site, as well as the time involved in keeping your "store" stocked with new items.

It is a big adventure - good luck.

I don't have any advice or experience to lend, except to say if you believe you have a passion for it...then research and go for it!

I believe, that's how most people got started!

Be prepared to put time into it and make it a success!! Best of Luck!!!
