How much would you charge for an exclusive digikit?

Hi there! I've just started creating and selling my own digital kits online at my own site. I have been approached by a pretty big digital scrapbooking online store who's interested to have an exclusive purchase of my 2 existing kits. If I sold these kits to them, I would be unable to sell the kits anywhere else, including in my own site. The kits they're interested in are pretty big (have lots of stuff). At the moment, I'm selling these kits at $5.50 and $7.50 each.

I have never done this before and have no idea what is a good/fair price range for exclusive kits like this. I'm hoping somebody here might be able to give me some insight :-).

Thanks a LOT in advance!

$250 American. Each. Because you're a beginner. Once your reputation has developed, you can get $500 - $750, I would imagine.

This is a little more than I've seen web graphics rights sold for, and less than reproduction rights to physical artwork. It isn't just an arbitrary amount.

These are beautiful kits, BTW. I'm sure you could sell them yourself and make more in the long run, but since these are your first kits, the exposure that the big store will give you might make your own site hits climb and you could sell future kits in your store more easily.

Just wondering, is the store going to resell them? Are you giving them your copyright to the kits?

woman, you need to get advertising on those kits! they are beautiful! I would charge at least $250 each. But I also want to know, are they then selling these kits? Cause then I would charge more.

Those are beautiful kits.. I think it all depends if you are selling the copyright on how much you want to charge them for it, I think you shouldn't charge anything less the 250 but would charge more if they want exclusive rights to your work (meaning they are resaling them but you can't) The other thing you want to think about is if you sell it to them are you going to get royalties (meaning you get a percent of what they sell of you stuff.)

ok, I think I may be undercharging. For some of you who have stated the $250 price range, have you ever sold your kits for that price?Who? I'm feeling a little stifled here ....

wow, thanks for the replies, girls! and so happy with the compliments :-) really makes my day when my work is appreciated!

and yes, they'll be selling the kits in their online shop. I've been reconsidering it now - perhaps I'll keep these kits for selling at my own site (and a few other sites as well; non-exclusively). especially coz' I have some free sampler kits available for download, using some elements from those kits. they said that I could try to create custom exclusive kit(s) for them if I don't want to sell those existing 2 kits to them. I will then have to submit the new kit(s) to their selection panel. maybe I'll do this instead! what do you girls think?

not sure about copy-rights either. naturally I'd like to keep the copyrights to myself but I assume that if we sell custom exclusive kit(s) then the buyer would have the copyrights as well? or is this a separate issue?

thanks! :-)

oh and another thing: their term is that once they purchased the kits, then I won't be able to sell them anywhere else, including at my own site. so they'd have the kits for selling on their site only - exclusively.
