Right now I would do somersaults for a royalty-free kit. I'm doing magazine layouts, and am forced to create my own papers and elements because I can't find any royalty free stuff out there. I'm not a great paper designer, and I hate reinventing the wheel - whatever I make is only derivitive of other people's work.

In case you were wondering, I would rather pay $20 than do somersaults.

The one thing that no one asked about the kit is what's included. How many papers, embellishments, etc. are in the kit? Otherwise, I think $20 is fine. I am of the mindset that I would rather create my own elements rather than spend the time and energy figuring out which designers allow commercial use and which don't and remembering who created each and every little element I used in my layout. But if it's that cut and dry in the digital world (as opposed to the way it is with paper scrapping) then I just might use a kit or element occasionally...for speed's sake.

What would you consider a fair commercial license fee for a kit or paper pack?? Of course free would be ideal any input would be much appreciated

Yes!!!! I wish that was across the board. I would love to buy "permission" to use a kit to sell layouts. Right now, I have to figure out how to make my own kits if I wanted to sell- far from that. Go for it and let me know when you are selling.

Since I have zilch, zip, nada in the way of design talent, I would jump at the chance to get a commericail license. As it stands now I have to really search to find sites and designers who will sell a commercial license. As for price I ususally pay between $5 to $10 a kit for a license - though I have had some designers request $100 LOL - didn't buy that one for sure!!! If you offered a high quality kit which I felt I could use for $20 I would buy it! I find I get the most use out of kits with general color schemes and lots of interchangable elements - the ones that are specific to one event (like camping or Christmas) I don't use as much. Thanks for asking!!

Juliet, what do you mean you do magazine layouts? Like layouts for submission to mags? Or do you work for a mag and you do the actual magazine pages themselves? Just curious
