They look overexposed to me - try bracketing your exposures.

Those are cool shots! I haven't gotten mine off the camera yet, but I doubt they turned out that nice. Could the white spot be a UFO? LOL, just joking. Over exposure makes sense. It will be easy to fix with all that black surrounding it though.
