its a double-edge sword however.. the kit lens and body of the D40/D60 are 100% plastic bodies. Lightweight.. yes, but not really made to take a hit to the ground. The more pro bodies and lenses weigh more, but can take a beating.. I know - I've dropped a few lenses and as I bend down to pick them up expecting the worst.. I sigh with relief every time.

But.. it is a nice camera. Granted.. they call it a replacement but they really didn't upgrade all that much to it.. I still recommend a used D50 over a new D40/D60 because the D50 is just amazing.. and quite cheap on the used market now ($325 or so).. amazing!
