My first DSLR

I took the plunge and decided to get a DSLR. I got the new just available Olympus E510. This camera is really creating a buzz. Olympus has finally offered a new innovative product.
I have been looking at Nikon and Canon for over a year now, but
this new E510 really caught my interest.
It is a smaller and lighter camera than the others, which makes traveling with it a lot nicer.
The thing that really convinced me was that you can use the screen to frame and take pictures. You don't have to use the view finder to take pictures. I have gotten so used to taking pictures using the screen, that having to hold the camera up to my eye is a little awkward.
I have had this camera for only two days now, but I'm really crazy about it. I find that changing from my S2IS to a DSLR is really not much different. The E510 has Image Stabilizing build into the camera and it also has auto focus. The only difference is you have to manually zoom. I can handle that. Also it is actually 2 oz less wt that the new Canon S5IS.
The pictures I have taken are really bright and crisp even before processing.
If you are considering stepping up to a DSLR, check this one out. I know Canon and Nikon basically have the market, but I think this new entry from Olympus will turn a lot of heads.

Thanks for the info. It will probably be a while before DH and I decide that we can afford DSLR, but I will try to remember it.

Have fun! lol about the viewfinder. I remember that was one thing I had to adjust too when I first got my dSLR...now when I take pixs for other people using their P&S I instinctively bring it to my face lol.

Congratulations!! I know that I can never go back to anything else now that I've experienced no shutter lag. I've gotten some amazing photos of the kids that I would have missed before. Hope you have a great time with your new baby.
