Nikon D 80 - Some files will not open?

Just got a Nikon D 80. Took a bunch of pictures today to play with the camera. I copied my photos on to my computer. "Some" of them will not open, and I can not figure out why. They are all JPG. If I expand Explorer, the file name, size, type, Date Motified, Date Created and Date Accessed "all" show up. But the camera model, the dimensions and the data the picture was taken do not. When I took the photos, the camera showed them briefly, right after they were taken.

I'm previously ran Olympus cameras and never bumped into something like this.

Pictures vary in size around the 2.5kb range.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

2.5KB are very very small.. certainly not normal jpg photos.. Not to sound dumb.. but was the memory card formatted specificaly for this camera? that size file is veyr close to what you would get with a thumbnail of somehting else.

I would reformat the memory card and see if it happens again.. unfortunatly, those photos are lost.

Yes, formatted card in Camera. Took 95 pictures. The first 68 turned out fine, the remaining 26 didn't. Sorry about the size, it was 2,538KB (shouldn't have had a decimal in there)

Fun, fun.

Hi Pesto - Been out of town - thank you for the offer. I checked with the camera place and they didn't have any other ideas, so we just reformatted the disk and hope like heck it doesn't happen again. Just goofying around with the camera, so the pics weren't anything special. I just hope it doesn't happen again when I have pics I don't want to loose. Googled some on the topic also, but didn't really come up with anything. Thank you again.

probably a fluke.. if it happens again, I would toss the memory card and try a different one. If it happens after that, return the camera for repair/replacement. good luck!
