Thumbs up New Book

Hi everyone,
I just bought Scott Kelby's new book called Digital Photography. Most of his books have been on Photoshop or Elements but this one is how to get get great photos. It is fun and filled with very specific suggestions. It is aimed at digital SLR users and specifically goes through settings for Nikkon and Canon cameras. I'm just learning on a Canon 20D so this has been great for me. It hasn't been out long so I thought I'd let others know its out there.

Yes.. good book - the only problem I have with these books. especially Kelby's.. is the rehash factor. I mean.. if I have to read ONE more book that talks about exposure or how a RAW differs from a JPG, etc..

So.. it - like other kelbys - is great if you already don't own another digital camera or photoshop book. If you own others.. be prepared for the inevitable 4 chapter rehash lesson.

I agree a lot of books do rehash things but what I liked the most about this one is that for a newbie to slr photography he gives a lot of specifics instead of just theory or a multitude of suggestions. This was exactly the kind of book I needed to boost my confidence and abilities with my slr. I've already seen improvement in my photos.

Ok.. I must admit. .I just received this book and it is really really good! It certainly has that rehash factor.. but at least it is mingled in between the chapters and is really very well done.

I highly recommend this one... its basically a primer on how to use your camera (and equpment) to take better photos without getting into all the usual dry technical explainations..

For example... you want to take a picture of a flower in focus with a blurred background.. usually you'll get the whole talk about fstop and DOF.. here - Scott plainly says.. put a zoom lens on the camera, set it to f2.8, focus on flower - done! Nicely said..
