I actually bought a scanner that could scan the old negatives as well as photos and regular items. It is the Canon 8400F, and I am really pleased with everything I have scanned so far. How many negatives did you need scanned? (That might make a difference in your final decision).

I have scanned old negatives and the pictures turned out wonderful. I have an Epson Photo Scanner and it had the attachments for it. The negatives scans turned out soooooooo much better than scanning the photo it self. Mine has a slide scanner also, but I haven't used it.

i just purchased an epson perfection v750 pro. a bit pricey but i have a ton of negatives and with the cost of developing well worth it i think in the long run. I have just started using it, but the results thus far have been awesome. I think this model just came out, but as i havent had the time to fully play and see what it's possibilities are I know that whatever results i have seen so far can be beat 10 fold once i start playing with the settings and the software it comes with. I have only tried to scan negatives that are in good condition so far, but soon i will be scanning some of the older more damaged ones so i mite have more to say then
