Sony Camera H2

Does anyone have the Sony Cybershot H2? We're looking at this camera to upgrade. (We can't afford any of those higher priced ones.)

Thanks,
Donna

I just purchased the H5, but the H2 is also a phenomenal camera. You can find out all about it at http://www.dpreview.com/
and lots of H2 users have posted the photos at http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1009

I just posted my first photos from my H5 at:

all the sony "H" camera are great. very user friendly!

Don't recommend

Hi,

I honestly don't recommend the Sony Cybershot. I had one, used it about a month, and sold it used on ebay. It was impossible to get a clear picture with it if there was any movement in the picture at all. Also, indoor pictures were very grainy. The only clear pictures that it took were outside it good light with no movement at all. I replaced it with an Olympus Stylus and I also have a Canon Rebel. I bought my Olympus at Costco and it was actually cheaper than what I had paid for my Sony.

Just my experience. ;-)

Hope this helps!

I've used a sony cybershot recently and while the pictures were quite nice, I would wholly recommend you look into Canon for P&S cameras... their powershot line has few equals and the price is great. The flip out LCD screens are the perfect solution to those times you want to get a picture at an angle that is less than ideal!

I bought a Sony H5 and I absolutely love it. The reason I chose it over the Canon S3 is the huge 3" LCD panel, the extra megapixel, and how it felt in my hands. Other than that, they are very similar and you would get the same quality of photos from either. I wanted a zoom camera because most of my photos are of grandkids who stop what they are doing and "pose" as soon as they see the camera. Sorry to hear about Bran's experience. Based on the samples and experiences reported in dpreview Sony Talk Forum, I think there may have been something wrong with the camera. This camera is highly recommended by a lot of professional photographers if you don't want to go to DSLR. I have not experienced any problems with focus or indoor picture quality at all. I'll post some photos in my gallery as soon as I can, but I recommend looking at what it can do in the hands of better photographers in the dpreview forum.

Sure.. those items are nice but the Sony cameras just do not produce the same quality of image as the canon's do consistantly. The extra MP is nothing... the LCD is a bit larger but you do not get the fantastic swivel screen which once you start using, you will never want to be without. Obviously, hand feel is quite important.

I would also recommend again the S2 over the S3.. you can get one much cheaper (about $300 used!) if you shop around... a great price for a great camera.. good luck with whatever you choose.

I have 4 digitals including the Canon DRebel. I have had my Sony H1 for a year and I adore it. I love my Rebel, but it is heavier and I just use it with huge lenses attached. I don't know how much has been changed since the H1, but it is the one that I usually grab first for everyday pictures and people often ask how I take such sharp pictures.

I hope that you can find the perfect camera for you.

The Sony H2 is a wonderful camera as is the H5 ... H1 was the first of these wonderful models and the one I have (bought a year ago). I love it and still use it with its 2 extra lenses even after buying a Nikon D200. Read the manual with camera in hand, learn to use the proper settings for the situation, experiment with the burst mode (for consecutive shots) and you will get great results.

The only time I had fewer 'keepers' was with indoor basketball ... which is a stretch for most cameras being low light and fast action.
