Cannon Power SHot S2 help!

I used my Cannon Power SHot S2 for kindergarden graduation today and I was not happy at all with the pics. Every time I took a pic it would come out blurry. I did zoom in but no a bunch. I had it on automatic mode and the lighting was fine. WHat am i doing wrong? I paid so much for this camera I really should be able to get better pics.

Chelsea

I am guessing you mean the S2IS? I have a different Canon, but drooled over that one while i was camera shopping.

Was the Image Stabilization turned on? AIAF? Just using optical zoom?
The only other nasties that have caused me to end up with blurry pictures were dust on the lens (that is what the camera will focus on - the dust), and either regular batteries or weakening rechargeable batteries. I dread having to use regular batteries, so always have four sets charged and ready to go.

Hope that it is just something simple, as i have heard so many great things about that camera.

did you consider it to be user error? If it was on auto mode.. perhaps the lighting wasn't good enough and the shutter speed was very low.. did the flash fire? Was the IS on or off..

User error

Yes, I most certainly believe it to be a possible user era. I am not a pro photographer and the camera is brand new. The IS was on but I don't know about the flash. I figured on automatic mode if flash was needed it would come on by itself. I thought someone could give me hints of what I could be doing wrong when taking the pics.

Well.. if you post some of the picts, we could review and see how they look.. also, by taking a look at the exif data, I could help determine if the settings were a problem.. ie: a blury photo shows f22 and shutter speed of 1 sec.. that would certainly lead to a blurry picture. Let me know and I'll do my best to help! We were all beginners once!!!

On the Canon S2 IS, if you want to have the flash available, you must open it up. It is just above the viewfinder. Pull it up.

There are lots of little symbols that show on the LCD monitor or in the viewfinder, depending on how you have the display set. These will tell you if something is or is not set properly for the shot. You will be able to find out what they all mean by looking at your manual.

I love my S2 IS, but it did take some time with the camera and the manual before I had it figured out.
