Negative storage

I'm going through all my old film negatives to make sure I have prints to go with the negatives (I gave pictures away in the past and forgot to get reorders from the negative strip!), and am having a tough time deciding how to store the negatives. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to store 35mm negatives? Right now they're in envelopes in a box, but I'm worried about long-term storage. Thanks for your help!!

I've gone through and scanned mine ..Just the really important ones.
I've had reprints done. I've been keeping mine in the wax paper/plasitc paper thingy they come in and in a storage box.

I am thinking about just tossing them now. I've got the good stuff anyways, why am I keep this stuff.???
No one else would want them.

I did the same as Suzie. I scanned the important ones and put them in jackets and in a binder. The rest I reluctantly threw away because I was moving into a smaller house and couldn't justify keeping 3 - 64 gallon storage containers of negatives.

My scanner has an adaptor to scan my negatives. This photo was scanned from a negative.

Wow, I had no idea this was possible. What kind of scanner do you have? Could I have this done by a copy shop?

I've scanned most of them, but can't bring myself to throw them out! Most don't have the plastic sleeve, they're just in the envelopes. I've since seen binder pages of sleeves to store them, I think I'm going to use that method. As far as the scanner, I've got an Epson 4180 that does a great job scanning up to 10 negatives at a time.
Thanks for all your help!
