After much research on dpreview and others I was planning on buying a Sony DSC V3 (7.1 mp) but my husband noticed a $100 rebate on the Olympus C 7000 (7.1 mp) which makes it $150 less than the Sony and less than $350 for a 7.1 mp. They seem to have very similar features and ratings on the sites I checked. Does anyone have the Olympus C 7000? Any opinions are welcome! I was looking for a smallish size camera with lots of mp and some zoom and take lots of moving kid pictures lol. Loved the large LCD too on the Sony, but this is close and well $100?

I never had an Olympus but I can tell you I love Sony cameras. I have had a P52, the V1 and now i have a V3. I really like the V3. I like that it is bigger, it is easier to hold(nicer grip) , and it has a neck strap. I always go back with the sony because I like the quality of the photos. I also love some of the other features like the night framing for taking videos at night.

I was just this past week looking at the Oly 7000 as an upgrade from my Oly Uzi...the UZi is only 2.1 megapixels and is seriously outdated as far as MPs go but, you would not believe the prints we get from that camera, even up to 8x10, it's amazing!

I am a diehard Olympus chick as I also have an Olympus SLR 35mm and an Olympus non-SLR 35mm....everyone always asks what kind of camera I have when they see prints, whether they be from the digi or 35mm's. I can't help you with the Sony b/c the last time I had one was a few years back not too long after the Mavica came out.

Good luck, either way I am sure you will love the Sony or the Oly....
