Chrome shooting mode?

My new Fuji Finepix S5100 has 3 shooting options... regular color, chrome and black and white. I'm assuming I won't use the black and white much. I can use PSE3 to change a color photo to black and white and have more control over how that change is made.

However, I'm not sure about the regular color vs. chrome modes. When do I want to use the chrome option? The manual says it will make the colors more vivid. I used this option while shooting pictures at the park the other day and liked the results. But I always want my colors to be vivid. So should I keep it set to chrome most of the time? Or should I only switch when I'm shooting outdoors with vibrant landscapes, etc.? Anyone have an opinion/advice?

Gosh Kim, I haven't seen the chrome mode before but I am guessing the camera just automatically bumps up your saturation a bit. I know there are several built in parameters to chose from in my camera and I am wondering if Fuji just uses a different name for there in camera processing??

Saturation and crome

Hello, you might like the results on screen but if you print, the color might be to much, I would recomend doing any color adjustments in the photoshop just becuse you can't go back once the picture is taken it's always best to compose and get your settings right in the camera when you take the picture then to mess with it in photoshop. I hope this helps

experiemtn adn see.. usually these extra modes are just marketing fluff.. like portrait and sports modes.. if your camera allows full manual control.. learn to use it.
