LOL! I tried this when taking a photography class as a college student. Got some crazy looks from drivers.

I'm reading a book that I checked out from my local library called "An Essential Guide to Photojournalism". The photographer does many shots using the "panning" technique. If you're interested, look it up at your library, or look through it at your local bookstore.

Ok just getting in on the tail end of this one and a TOTAL newbie to boot but after reading the challenge I looked around the room for something moving (it's night and the kids are in bed) I was sitting in my swivel office chair and simple slowed my shutter speed way down, stuck out my foot then turned in my swivel chair so my foot and camera were going at the same speed - stayed nice and in focus while the carpet below blurred. Not the most exciting picture by any means but it gave me an idea of how it all works, speeds, settings, etc...Now to try it with something a little more exciting than a foot!
