RingCube Creators of MojoPac
but before you download it read the forum. or let me know which apps you'll upload. I've gone through trial and error and I kinda know what works and what doesn't =)

This is pretty neat - I've never heard of that company before... but, I'm not sure why this is much better than using standard portable applications. There are so many applications out there in portable format (ie: they run off a USB drive) - you can use a USB drive to run your own version of XP and then run photoshop and many others directly from it. I have lots of applications that I run from my USB drive on any PC without affecting it. Also, running from USB or EHD is MUCH slower than running from an internal drive so I would only want to do this method on occasion - I value my speed very much!

Look here for more info on this as well:

That's exactly what this does. It lets you run all your apps off of any type of USB drive or EHD. It's no different than what you shared.

The one I use gives me my own environment and lets me toggle from my environment back to the original host PC. This one has issues with the MS SQL databases. So, some programs like Quickbooks I can't run on Mojo.

My initial question was asking if anyone used one. Cause I wanted to see what was out there. But, I thought it was only fair to share the one I used.

Hey Pesto - I was reading online about the portable apps. it sounds like the app itself has to be converted to a portable format. Is that true to run off of what you're using?

Yes... that allows the apps to run much cleaner and smaller. For example, I have a version of photoshop that only takes up around 30MB of space.. that's a lot smaller than the 350MB or more that the full install would take up thus the reason why portable apps are so very nice.

I have a 4GB USB drive that I can boot XP from, run firefox with all my bookmarks and extensions, and run over 100 applications from without affecting the host PC - and when I'm done, all my information is saved right on the USB drive.

Now.. the program you mentioned has the benefit of now having to convert your applications to run portable.. but you then must use a large drive which is not as easy to take with you, etc and with the number of technical folks out there - many of the programs are already in portable format or an alternative is available.

The EHD I have is a 150 gig. I don't know for me it's easy to take. fits in my purse nicely...lol But, I know there are gamers out there running off of 2 and 4 ipod nanos and 4 gig drives. I'm not really aware of their set up. I just like carrying all my photos and music with me.

Does your portable device require you to have admin rites to the host computer to run it? or have you tried? Also I'm looking for PS / CS in a protable app. know where i can find it?? I may just switch to this version if admin rights aren't needed. At work they will be removing that pretty soon.
