You probably need to update your embedded graphic card drivers... check out this link here:

http://developer.intel.com/support/g.../CS-016497.htm

and then go here an download the latest driver based on the Operating System you have..

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Prod...ProductID=1764

install, reboot, say goodbye to problem.

The "rev up" sound you here is either a fan kicking in to cool your system from overheating... or your DVD/CD drive spinning because some application decided to read all your drives... if the revving keeps up and is not the dvd drive... you might want to be sure you system isn't overheating.. if it is a fan - you'll need to find out what is wrong.. could be an inadequate power supply, not enough ventilation, etc.

good Luck.

welcome... you should always keep you drivers up to date... software companies are always updating their drivers and designing software using the latest ones... if you experience problems when you start using a new product or updated version, update your video driver as a first step.. it will typically resolve the issue.

Great advice Pesto. This is probably what is wrong with my old clunker pc that the kids use....maybe someday I will look into it for them.

So when things go wankie then i come and ask you for help... and of course you save the day And while my hubby is a bit more puter literate I tend to not let him near my puter... he always changes my settings and dose weird stuff hehe.
