ACDsee?

I've been looking and reading about this thing called ACDsee and it looks similar to Canon's Zoom Browser.
I also have Adobe Albums, haven't used it. And I think Corel had something too but I didn't install it.

So, out of curiousity. What features do you like, use the most out of ACDsee? I'm trying to understand the benefits to see if I need to get this or if the one I have (zoom browser) will work fine.

Thoughts?

Im not familar with Canon Zoom browser so I just googled and it looks pretty good
ACDSee has some extra features that are particulary suited to organising digi scrapping however and thats where the difference lies i think. I use ACDsee for my digital stash (wich is well over 150BG worth) but i tend to use Bridge more for my photos (about 300GB worth).
Keywording is much easier in Acdsee for digital scrapbooking stuff and since thats its main function for me it works well.

I tried using the Adobe Organizer for years and never got it to work right, plus it took so long to load and my LOs always messed it up. ACDSee opens up quickly (to the last place I was browsing which is nice) and I have catalogued 75% of my stuff now (I just keep buying more darn it!!). It can "see" png, psd, and brushes and that is so nice. Plus the keyword sort is great!! If I need a red, short ribbon I just click those keywords and bam it comes up with all my options! So worth the money!! I am not familiar with the other programs, but I do know that a TON of people in the digiscrapping world use it and they really do try to gear it to us. If you have any questions please ask!

Oh and I love that I can put stuff in my "tray" and then open it all up at once, then when I need credits I can go back to my tray and see all that I used!

p.s. I am not affiliated with the company at all, just a fan who wishes she got it years ago!!!

I've used several things to organize and am finally happy with ACDSee for my scrap and design items and Lightroom for my photos. Each has it's benefits and seems to be the fastest program for each process. I've developed methods to organize my items, track my credits and mark my "go-to" items. I can't scrap without ACDSee anymore. It is completely worth the purchase price and I love the upgrade to version 10. The only thing I don't like about the tray is that it doesn't save when you close. Since I tend to work on layouts over a period of time that didn't work for me.

Thanks for the great feedback. I did more research last night and installed Adobe Albums, played around with it and also played around with my browser. One main flaw is not being able to see the png files. I think I'm going to need the ability to see png files. I probably will be investing.

Thanks again!

You can try ACDSee for 30 days free before you decide if you want to buy it. And yes you do need to see your pngs!!

agree.. ACDSee seems to have a nice balance for design elements... it is missing some large features for me however when it comes to using it for photos... I've been trying out Pro X2 for awhile now and love the features... but they missed the boat on a number of things - no stacking/versioning support and the big one... you cannot handle metadata correctly for RAW images. That, coupled with a few other minor quibbles, has turned me back to Imatch for my pro cataloging... but for scrapping, it is a nice package.

Love ACDSee- I just use it for my digiscrappin stuff and haven't tried any of the phto editing capabilities.
Some of my favorite featrues- Version 10- can unzip files, view brush files, can also use it to "load" font files without having to install them. Have also been able to play several different movie/video formats and - it's jsut a great organizational tool. Course- the organizing bit does take time but sure worth it because of teh variety of search options. Only downside is that some folks have been having problems with it (Version 10) freezing and shutting down quite a bit. I don't let that bother me- it reopends pretty quickly. DigiScrapInfo is a great resource. They even have some video tutorials if you would like to watch the program in action.
