ACDSee - crashes! HELP!??? >:(

I got my ACDSee 9 installed on my new laptop the other day; it's running Vista so don't know if this is the issue; but am fairlyl sure I read it's compatible with Vista via another fourm when searching google;

I imported a TON of scrapbooking stuff and tagged it to a category. when I click on that category - it loads up the preview images from teh database to about 17-23% and then the program crashes everytime and doesn't really give much of an error to report I'm afraid.

Anyone else experience this at all - what did you find to resolve it?

I was hoping to get quite a bit of scrapping done between now and next week and organizing my goodies would certainly help to get my pages done

I'm not sure what the problem is but I never imported my scrap stuff. I would check out digiscrapinfo.com for info and if you cant find anything post and Connie and Heidi are usually pretty fast at responding. If you can't resolve it let me know. I have the head tech's email address so you can contact him quickly.

Yeah - my Vista is totally updated.... and also downloaded the lastest patch for ACDSee...

Also just tried this:

Tried reloading ACDSee and got excited but then the error popped up again when it reached 22%

thanks Lori - it's not rebooting my entire system... just crashing ACDSee itself - the first error message in the attachments comes up twice before shutting the program down.

Am optimizing the database now and reselecting the category to see what happens.

I had an issue with 10 and went through deleting the .cdx files and that didn't work for me either. I talked to the tech and he had me delete these two files:

Delete the Thumb1.fpt and Thumb2.fpt (not all the fpt files) from the "C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Local settings\Application Data\ACD Systems\Catalogs\100\Default"then test if you can optimize the database properly.

Since you have 9 it would be 90/default. This is the same place that the .cdx files are.

This worked for me. If you feel like having a safety net then copy those files someplace else befroe deleting so you can put them back if you need to.

I can't scrap without ACDSee anymore. My stash is too big to find anything.
