Can't seem to get the screen saver to work in Vista. Have adjusted setting in the control panel and nothing works. If I am on battery only power- the screen will go blank but if I'm plugged it and the computer is idle- what's on the screen stays on the scree- no screen saver pops up. Also- I have not downloaded any updates since getting the computer in April. Let updates pile up before on my previous laptop and when I updated- the updates used up 5gig of space. Don't have that to spare.

Ouch.. you should certainly take the updates to Vista - out of the box it is a very bugy OS.. many of the updates have corrected a lot of problems and it is now rather stable. I would say you should take the updates and then see if all your problems are resolved - I would say they will be.

The updates shouldn't take up that much room... at most, a few MB's here and there.

Found out through the Vista discussion groups that it is related to the cordless mouse. Have to unplug the USB receiver thing otherwise it somehow keeps the screen active.
