All About ACDSee!
Well, I did it. I now am using ACDSee for organizing all things pretty and photographic on my 'puter. This is quite a program!
I'm printing out the tutorials over at DigiScrapInfo for my "ACDSee Bible" and have already got my organizing underway. So far only a few program bugs, no biggie. Nothing like PSE organizer freezing up and hanging itself!
Anybody else have any thoughts?

OK, I've been seriously considering getting the program. At the North West Digiscrappers Retreat I was watching some people using it in action, and it looked like a very useful tool. Not only was it helpful to organize scrap elements but it also has features like wallpaper for your desktop, screen savers (using your layouts, etc.), and font organization. I don't even know. I'd love to know more before I decide to take the plunge. I know if I do get it I'm going to spend lots and lots and lots of time renaming things and tagging items.
I have a question too, if others have this. Do I have to tear kits apart to organize, or do you just label them so that they are easily searched for??? I don't have a clue what I'm in for. Thanks.

Hey you talented Girl! You know, I felt the same way when I saw all those tutorials. I was like "holy CATS!...I need to go back to school and get another degree!!!"
BUT...once I got into even the first one "Getting Started with ACDSee Photo Manager", I really got to know some of the workings of the program. From there, I was eager to see what else it could do!
As for keeping your kits together....personally, I REFUSE to separate my kits! In my bad-addled brain, they are identified by kit name and color. I was delighted to see that the FIRST thing that above-mentioned tutorial did was to organize and identify all your PREVIEWS. This, in turn, leads you to the kits they represent. From THERE, you can choose to label each element/paper by color, type, etc.
I loved how I could import category lists that seasoned veterans of ACDSee have already made! It's like all of the hard brain-poking work was already done!
Another thing I liked about these tutorials is that they are scrapbooking-specific, AND they deal with one of the most important issues that we face when we digi-scrap...being able to credit the designers of the elements we use. So they go to great lengths to show you how to label those kits correctly, and also how to keep track of elements you are using, if you work between different kits, like I sometimes do! I thought that was COOL!
So...the first thing I did was go through and find all my previews and categorize them. Heck, that's as far as I got with PSE Organizer before it died on me! Now I'm going through and adding Kit name and Designer name. It'll take me a couple days or so to get everything done, but it's addictive. Once you start, you don't want to stop!

OK, you've convinced me. I was just up at Lisa B (lisabranka)'s house and she was showing me how she has all the previews organized like you are saying, and it was so cool! Off to buy! Thanks again for the link Julie, I'll go get me some tutuorials to get started. Summer project!

I, too, used the Organizer in PhotoShop Elements -- now I'm ACDsee all the way!! Make sure you read all tutorials -- I THOUGHT I knew what I was doing and had to start over twice, LOL! I found stuff that I didn't even realize I had!

Thanks Connie, I'm playing now! Got several previews up and working on alphas! I'm so impressed already, and haven't even started on organizing elements yet. I've bookmarked the forums and your blog. How helpful! Thanks again.
