Thx for all the info!
i checked out a few of the suggestions mentioned above...and I (of course) liked some better than others. Other than personal UI preference, I figured my biggest wish is to have a program that will easily detect changes in file location if I move something post-cataloguing and make the changes with the broweser accordingly. LOL....so, if I cold get opinions on which program(s) do this the best, I would greatly appreciate.

Thx so much for all the help so far!

Actuallly, most of the programs have difficultly with this.. ie: you can set watch folders and they will update any photos moved into the folders and auto create thumbs, etc.. but moving folders/photos around outside the program is a major no-no.. you'll always want to move things around within the program.. or you'll have to do a rescan all the time within them.

Why would you move things around anyway? The beauty of a catalog program is that you can have stuff located anywhere and always find it (via keywords, categories, albums, etc)... I have stuff all over 1.5TB of hard drive space... sure - my new naming and organizing is nice and I could easily find things in Windows.. but the older stuff is hard to find but easy in Idimager.. Just curious..

One advantage with ACDSee is that we have many tutorials that are digiscrapping specific at our site DigiScrapInfo.com

And we provide support as well. And we blog about new tips as our users provide them

Just to update my last statemetn.. so long as you do all the moves and copies WITHIN the catalog program, the changes will be tracked by the application.. most of them handle this well - I know Idimager does and so does Iview and Imatch. These are the top DAM products on the market and have the advanced functions to fully maintain your digital assets.
