Question ? regarding ACDSee.....

I keep my latest downloaded SB Kits, etc. in a folder called "SB Downloads" that is located in "Downloads" like this: C/Pam/Downloads/SB Downloads. My new PC has Windows Vista Home Premium. I keep these SB Kits, etc. in that folder until I burn them to a CD so that I can keep up with it. All of my kits that have already been backed up to CD's are located in: C/Pam/Documents/Digital Scrapbooking, which is where I will move my SB Downloads items to when I back them up to a CD or DVD.

Is that going to cause me a problem in ACDSee? I just downloaded it and I am getting ready to set up ACDSee in categories. I am probably not making any sense....I guess what I need to know is can I move SB items around in Drive C without messing up what I've done in ADCSee? Does it keep up with where you move items to?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Hi,
We now have pre- made categories available that you can import into ACDSee here.

And the rule of thumb is - everything needs to be moved inside of ACDSee for the software to know where it is at & went to.

Yes, I know about the pre-made categories and I am combining some of them with what I came up with.

My question is, in the event for some reason or another I have to move a folder or file. Tracey has come up with a link that will help me.

Thanks for your help.

Tracey...I like the "Notions" one too and I am going to add "Bows" to it since ribbons are there!

How are you liking it so far? I know you have used Picasa for a long time. Give me your feedback, OK!

Love it, I added:
Types:
Alphas (then just catergorized the 1 & A to show it has either just alphas or numbers also)
Emblishements:
Hearts

Journaling:
Strips

Notions:
Ribbons & Bows
Beads & buttons
Frays
Tears
(moved Stickers from down below up Notions)

Paper:

Grunge (for those really grungy papers )

Patterns:

Harlequin
Misc (for paper that have...just undescribable images on them )
Swirls
Text

Man it is really tough trying to figure out where to put some stuff...is it a doodle or a flourish?
Is it a Stamp or a Brush!!! Eyelets that don't look nor are shaped like eyelets, come to think of it...they really don't look like anything I have ever seen in real life! LOL

And then how about all the different types of tags, word tags, shiny metal tags, gel word stone thingys!!! LOL

I have all the photos on my computer done, my LO's done and I am to the "E's"! I am finding this program the easiest thing to do right now...just drag and drop. Right up my alley

I did have one heck of a time trying to get rid of all the Thumb.db, Picasa.ini and pspbrwse.jbf thumbnails. But now I am just deleting them as I go through the folders and cataloging.

I did Tools>Options>View and turned them to hidden so hopefully now if I don't use My Documents folder to look at things anymore those won't come back.
I don't use Picasa since it was so hard to remember where you left off at. So that will take care of the .ini thumbnails.

I Use ACDSee to rename a LOT of photo's and found it great to use once I figured it out.
Also nice to be able to rename the .pspimage files to .psp instead.

So now hopefully Connie comes back to check this thread and tells us the next step after we are done.
I am throwing out stuff left and right, so dump the garbage can and defrag, back up the database?
