I have found that since it is easier to navigate through ACDSee than Windows, I am using ACDSee for almost all of my document "finding" not just photos and scrap stuff.
But yes, you will want to make sure that anything youhave tagged in ACDSee is moved in ACDSee or you will lose your data. BTDT- and I learned the hard way.

For the Categories, I am finidnt hat grouping a few similar types together worked best for me. For ex, I have Buttons and Bottlecaps as one. Doodles, Swirls and Flourish is another. I figured that by doing it this way, I can eliminate some of the "thinking" (b/c who likes to think too much? :lol: ). And later on, if I find that the category is getting too big, I can go into that particular category and further refine it.

Before I do this..can I now delete My Documents Folder from my desktop..It doesn't have the little black arrow on it like it is a shortcut.
I put it there when I got this XP computer because I hate digging for anything.
I still see a My Documents Folder in my C://Documents and Setting/Tracey/My Documents (which contains all the same stuff)

Then I have another one C://Tracey's Documents...? Right belowed the Shared Documents Folder.
I am assuming I have Admin rights on this computer..? But the My Documents folder under Administrator is empty?
I just want to make sure the folders and files inside my Deaktop My documents folder stay on my computer somewhere..

My dear if you don't know if you have admin rights on your computer - who does?!! (ladies I can razz Tracey because we've had lunch together.... it took us 3 hours to have lunch! lolol)

Ms. Tracey I will point Heidi over to this question. I could answer but it would require my thinking on a Sunday.

Most likely: "My Documents Folder from my desktop" This is just a shortcut. To be sure right click on it & choose properties. Under the general tab if you see type of file "shortcut" then it is just a quick path to my documents and if you don't like it you can delete it.

As for the other, it's hard to say what it is: C://Tracey's Documents...? If you have nothing in it should be safe to delete it but it also won't hurt anything to just leave it either.

For the administrator My documents, I would suggest leaving it.


I am loving this thread. You guys are doing such a great job! You mentioned the next step. I would say start scrapping and trying it out!

Lastly, about the categories. I created the list and I wanted to give enough categories to kick start people but not too many to overwhelm them. I am so glad that you are coming up with your own categories and rearranging them. I have come to realize that organizing is an art in itself! There is no one right way to do it just the way it works best for you!

He said something when I had it in there that I actually have two hard-drives...One acts as a backup to the other?
I haven't a clue actually, cuz I pay him to know this stuff!! LOL

No short-cut, it says it is a file folder. If I have to try remember how I got it to my desktop...I would gather that I did a copy and paste when it was a brand new computer.
All my Administrator folders are empty except a few programs in the start menu.

SSooo I just got really brave or REALLY stupid and placed it in my recycle bin....hehehe and THANKFULLY the folder is still intack in Tracey/My Documents

I also love that ACDSee can see previews of my FONT files.
