Ok, for the past several days I have been "organizing" and tagging everything. In the meantime I have tried playing with MATCH ANY/ALL. If I click on MATCH ALL - then ribbon - then blue ------ I get everything blue. So, I tried to click opposite --- blue first then ribbon I get all ribbon then too. I must be doing something wrong! Oh duh!!!! I have all my ribbon classified as RIBBON then by color so I should be good to go shouldn't I?

I would encourage you to stick with very broad categories for now, and then create others later if you see the need. Don't get overwhelmed or it won't be any fun

you should be good, and there was something somewhere that explained this...I'll try to get on my acdsee and see how its done, unless someone in the know comes around soon...but I know you can do it!

Match all - choosing Blue and Ribbon -- brings up only blue ribbons

Match any - choosing Blue & Ribbon -- brings up all blue items & all ribbons

Any means anything & everything tagged with those words. And all means that it needs to be a 'blue ribbon' to get shown from the search

The more specific you can get as you are tagging things.. the better you will be to narrow down your searches.

Don't forget to backup this stuff now and again and also try exporting your catalogs to something else like excel or CSV files if that option is available... remember, you are only creating a ACD database here.... if you decide to move to the latest and greatest later.. all your work will be for nothing if you can not read it into that new program. That's why I use IDimager with a SQL database... even if I switch programs, that SQL database contains all my data and I can use another program to read and manipulate it. I also always add the data back into the XMP file data for photos... if you don't know what I'm talking about.. go check out my workflow tutorials in the photography sections. or PM me..
