ACDsee Help!

I purchased the software through the store and thought I'd really like the capabilites to catalog all my items. But, now, I'm in panic mode!

About 3/5 way through (about 35,000 items), I then used the Catalog Wizard to catalog the files on G Drive (an internal HD), left for a couple of hours and came back and found that ACDsee was logged out -- does it close after this operation? When I was cataloging individual items I used the properties-database panel on right instead of organize panel, did that make a difference?

I have 1.99GB of RAM -- how can I tell how much of it is used for ACDsee -- also freezes up on me.

Once I figure (or you!) what I did wrong, I also have digi supplies on C drive -- do I need to get them all on one drive?

TIA for any help, it is greatly appreciated!

P.S I have viewed Shelly's tuts, but I still don't know why this happened!

I dont remember ACDSee actually closing but it doenst take all that long to catalog - I have a 520GB hard drive and from memory it only took about 20 minutes maybe less to use the wizard the first time

>I have 1.99GB of RAM -- how can I tell how much of it is used for ACDsee<
Make sure ACDsee is the only thing you have open - Press ALT CONTROL DELETE to access the task manage - click on Performance and see what the numbers are - if you don't do any regular basic computer maintence then your system might be a bit overloaded - its always good practice before you install a new program to do a clean disk/scan disk and even a defrag - and you should disable your virus protection temporarily - this will ensure a clean install.

also freezes up on me.
It will freeze if you dont let it load properly all the way through before you do something - in the bottom right hand corner when you first start is a little percentage number - this shows you how far its getting - Don't do anything til its at 100% or disappeared - this is essentially the program loading your files including any new stuff you have added since you last opened and depending on your collection might take a few minutes - once its loaded though you should not have any further problems

Nope - I have C drive and D drive and can catalog on both fine

HTH

Shouldnt have
I dont know the answer to that not having used teh catalog wizard

Post on digiscrapinfo's forum for help. Connie or Heidi (the owners) will be most helpful and you will get an answer from them pretty quick. They are great at figuring out problems and providing answers.
